Barry Wasserman, Ph.D., and Ruth Ann Weiss, Directors
Owner/Director Barry Wasserman has been a camp director for 21 years. Prior to creating Eagle River Day Camp, Barry was the director of Lake-Vu Day Camp in East Brunswick, New Jersey, for 14 years.
Barry serves on the Board of Advisors for Camp America, a division of the American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS). He has also previously served as President, Vice President and Treasurer of the New Jersey Association of Private Camps, and currently as a Board Member of the American Camp Association - New Jersey Section. As one of the elected leaders in a nationally-recognized organization of camp professionals, Barry is a frequent speaker at various camp conferences throughout the northeast. |

Director Ruth Ann Weiss has been a camp supervisor for 17 years. Prior to Eagle River, Ruth Ann worked as the head supervisor at Lake-Vu Day Camp for 4 years. Ruth Ann grew up in camp, and spent many years working in non-profit facilities. She has served as an administrator in camps in both New Jersey and Delaware.
Ruth Ann received her certification as a pre-school teacher. She worked as a kindergarten teacher and also supervised an after-school program working with children in grades K-8.
Barry and Ruth Ann grew up in camping, spending their childhood at both day and overnight camps in the northeast.
Their five children are Eagle River campers and counselors, who ride the bus to camp, swim in the lake,
enjoy the food, and offer great ideas for new craft projects!
Barry and Ruth Ann are members of the American Camp Association. They are frequent speakers at camp conferences and have trained thousands of staff who work directly with children.

Kim Conroy, Program Coordinator
Program Coordinator Kim Conroy has been teaching pre-school children in Manalapan for the past 8 years and this will be her 7th year at Eagle River. During camp, Kim oversees the 1st and 2nd grade female campers. Coupled with her past experience of working in the public school system she has a deep understanding that each child is unique and each camper is treated as a special individual. In addition, she has the maturity and understanding that only comes with being a mom herself. She lives in Manalapan with her husband and two daughters, who are, of course, Eagle River campers! |

Jodi Kroll, Division Leader
Division Leader Jodi Kroll is a pre-school teacher in East Brunswick during the school year. Jodi has her Masters degree in special education and lives locally with her husband and three daughters. During camp she supervises our youngest campers in the Mini-Day and Kiddie Kingdom programs. She loves working with the younger campers and helping them to develop new skills. Jodi is returning for her 5th summer. |

Heather Mitchell, Division Leader
Division Leader Heather Mitchell is working with Jodi to supervise our youngest campers in Mini-Day and Kiddie Kingdom. Heather is returning for her 5th summer and looks forward to her new position. Heather was our Dance/Movement Coordinator for the past four years. Dunring the off season she is a teacher in the West Windsor school district. She loves playing with the campers and helping them to stay active! |

Kelly Backus, Division Leader
Division Leader Kelly Backus teaches music, band and chorus in Spotswood and is excited to be returning for her 4th year to Eagle River. During camp, Kelly oversees the 1st and 2nd grade female campers. Coupled with her past experience of working in the public school system she has a deep understanding that each child is unique and each camper is treated as a special individual. Campers and parents may recognize Kelly as our former Drama and Music Coordinator. |

Brian Mallen, Division Leader
Division Leader Brian Mallen is currently finishing his degree in education at Rutgers University. He has been at Eagle River since the very first summer 8 years ago. Brian has moved his way up the staff ranks from Junior Counselor, Counselor, Sports Instructor, Assistant Division Leader and now Division Leader. His energy and smile is contagious and he is so excited to take on a new role this summer.

Justin Hirsch, Division Leader
Division Leader Justin Hirsch is returning for his 4th summer as a division leader at Eagle River. Justin is a teacher in Northern New Jersey during the school year, and is looking forward to working with our campers in grades 3, 4 and 5. He enjoys participating in activities with the campers and is eagerly awaiting his new position with middle camp.

Risa Krasnove, Division Leader
Division Leader Risa Krasnove is returning for her fourth summer at ERDC. During the off-season She is a teacher in North Brunswick and has a master's degree in Instruction and Curriculum. Risa is very excited to work with the girls in grades 3, 4 and 5. She lives in town with her husband and 3 kids who are Eagle River campers! |

Sue Ancona, Division Leader
Division Leader Sue Ancona is returning for her 8th summer at ERDC. Sue has been the Sports Coordinator since our first summer 8 years ago.
This summer she will be taking on a new position as the Division Leader for upper camp. Sue is a High School Physical Education teacher in Northern New Jersey. She is very excited about her new position and is looking forward to having fun with her campers.! |

Mike Leibowitz, Division Leader
Division Leader Mike Leibowitz is returning to Eagle River this summer. Mike is a Physical Education teacher in Northern New Jersey. Mike has been an ERDC parent for the past 4 years. He is most looking forward to working with our older campers, being outdoors and playing with them. He currently lives in Monroe Twp, NJ with his wife and 2 ERDC campers!

Special Events Coordinator Eve Arbeitman is new to Eagle River this summer and comes to us with an amazing resume. She has tons of camp experience and she can't wait to share her knowledge with our great staff! During the school year Eve is a special education teacher in the Manalapan-Englishtown School District. |
