What are the dates for the 2011 camp season?
 
The 2011 camp season will begin on Monday, June 27, and will end on Friday, August 19. The July session runs from June 27 through July 22, and the August session runs from July 25 through August 19. A camper may enroll for either 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 weeks, in any combination they choose. 2 and 3-week sessions are not available during weeks 4, 5 and 6.

Our camp day runs from 9:00 a.m. until 4:15 p.m.
 
How much does camp cost?
 
Tuition rates are based on the grade you child is entering next fall. In addition, for campers age 3-5, there is a 3-day or 5-day option. The following rates are effective now through the end of the summer. If you have any questions, please call the camp office. IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW: Day Camp Tuition is eligible for Child Care/Dependent Care Reimbursement through your employer, or as a straight deduction on your taxes. Most Eagle River families take advantage of this, and many pay less than 50% of their tuition out of pocket.

What is your staff to camper ratio?
 
At Eagle River we focus on keeping our groups small in combination with using a mature staff. Children in pre-kindergarten through second grade have a 1:5 counselor to camper ratio and are in groups no larger than 10. As children grow older the groups remain small with a 1:6 supervision ratio. Campers are grouped based on gender and the grade they are entering in the fall. While Counselors In Training (CITs) are working with most groups, they are not counted in our supervision ratios
 
Is transportation included?
 
No. The Enrollment Fee for camp is for parent drop-off and parent pick-up at camp. Parent drop-off for no bus service is 8:25-8:40 am and pick-up is 4:25-4:40 pm.

Three transportation options are available and must be selected for your entire enrollment period:

Air conditioned, door-to-door transportation is available within our service area. We use only modern, DOT-inspected, seat-belted buses and vans. Every driver has a New Jersey CDL license. Every driver must have a drug test, a background check and medical physical.
 
In addition, an Eagle River staff member is on every vehicle to ensure safety. This staff person, also called a bus counselor, will greet you every morning and afternoon while picking-up and dropping-off your child. We provide door-to-door transportation throughout most of Middlesex, Monmouth and Mercer Counties. The additional fee for door-to-door transportation is as follows:

Do you provide lunch?
 
Yes, Eagle River Day Camp provides a hot lunch program for all cameprs. We provide a tasty menu that alternates throughout the summer. A hot entree is available every day and includes "kid friendly" foods such as pizza, chicken nuggets, grilled cheese, baked ziti, pasta, and hot dogs. In addition, healthy alternatives are available every day. Our salad bar includes fresh garden salad, lowfat fruit yogurt, fresh fruit, tuna and turkey sandwiches on whole wheat breads, and whole wheat bagels with cream cheese or margarine.
 
  Special diets from kosher to food allergies can be accomodated.
  All of our food is free of nut derivatives, including peanuts.
  All of our food is free of trans-fats.
  Ices or ice cream are served as a snack every afternoon.
  Kiddie Kingdom campers are served an additional mid-morning snack.

Is Eagle River a peanut-aware camp?
 
Yes. Eagle River is a peanut-aware camp. All the food we provide is nut-free, and we ask parents to abstain from sending in any food containing peanuts to camp. This includes (but is not limited to) peanut butter sandwiches or crackers, peanut butter cookies, trail mixes, candy containing peanut butter, and peanut snacks. As a lunch alternative, we offer Sunbutter and Jelly sandwiches on whole wheat bread. Sunbutter is made from sunflowers and contains no peanuts or tree nuts. It is also daity, egg and gluten free. Sundbutter is processed in a facility that also processes soybeans.
 
What will you do for my child's birthday?
 

We love birthdays at Eagle River! Every camper is brought in front of the camp during our morning gathering and the entire camp sings our special birthday song. In addition, every birthday child will receive a special button and birthday cake for their group during lunch.

  Yummy snacks, including fresh fruit, ice cream and ices every day.
  Camp T-shirt and camp backpack.
  Daily morning swim instruction and afternoon free swim.
  Weekly electives for grades 3-9.

What is a Special Day?
 

Every day at Eagle River is special! Every family will receive a calendar of events to keep you on track. In addition to our daily activities we have a huge weekly event that is wild, wacky and fun and the kids love it!! What is your visitation policy?
 
We have an open visiting policy and we welcome parents to come and visit our camp! You may visit camp most days between 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. When you arrive at camp, you will be greeted by our security personnel and directed to the office. We ask that you limit your visit to 30 minutes per child so as not to disturb the groups. Check our weekly camp newspaper for specific information on visiting.
 
How many campers attend the camp?
 
We have approximately 500 campers throughout the summer
 
How old are the counselors? Where do they come from?
 

All of our counsleors and specialty instructors are supervised by certified teachers. Teacher supervisors meet with their staff throughout the day to observe and disseminate information and address any camper concerns.

Our counselors and specialty instructors are college students or high school seniors. High school juniors are hired as junior counselors.

We also offer a Leader-In-Training (LIT) program for campers entering 9th grade and a Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program for campers entering 10th grade.

 
In there a nurse or doctor at camp?
 
We always have two registered nurses on staff during the camp day in our Wellness Center. A pediatrician is on call.
 
Do you have sibling discouts?
 

Yes. Take 5% off for your second child, and 10% off for your third and fourth child. The discount will automatically be deducted by our office and reflected in your invoice when paying your tuition.
